Spent the first day of summer doing 108 sun salutations with pals downtown. Sun salutations act to open or engage most parts of the body and prepare for more advanced postures. Urdhva Mukha Svanasana, or Upward Facing Dog is particularly prevalent in Sun Salutation A, and a great requisite to bow pose. Both require hip flexor flexibility, a supple upper back, and super activated quads.
