Treasures. One of the many joys in having young children around is the opportunity to experience life through their eyes. I found this sweet little flower in my car the other morning, picked by my daughter and then carefully tucked into a cup holder. As with many treasures found, this little flower was left behind and forgotten, likely traded for a new treasure. I always have an assortment of rocks, sticks, feathers and other random bits of nature stowed away in the nooks of my car. As I held this dried flower in my lap I felt a sense of appreciation and love flow through me. I thought of my daughter of course and how she, like this flower, is sweet and small and fragile. I needed this reminder as I so easily forget to see her in this way. I’m constantly empowering her to be strong and self reliant but I also need to teach her that sometimes strong is being fragile. Sometimes strong is crying. Sometimes strong is showing emotion and being vulnerable.
Thank you Wyllis, for leaving me this small treasure and the reminder that true strength comes from a place of authenticity. Honoring our emotions fosters self respect and manifests a nourished soul. Be strong today. .
