This Friday, August 17, I'm 2.5 years sober (and tobacco free) and it's also opening night of the M. T. Pockets Theatre Company play "Distracted" by Lisa Loomer -- I am so grateful to have two roles in this hilarious, powerful production: Dr. Zavala and Dr. Broder.
I've always wanted to be in a play, and I FINALLY felt mentally and physically healthy enough to walk into a room of strangers and audition. I've felt so welcomed and appreciated by the cast and crew throughout all of the hard work for "Distracted." Summon the courage and strength to take action steps toward your long-awaited dreams, especially if they freak you out a lot, because the soul rewards can be immense.
I'm so grateful for my strange and beautiful path, for all of the mistakes I made, the wisdom I've gained, and the bridges I burned because they've ALL led me to THIS moment: to build better bridges, form healthier friendships, and construct a way more fulfilling life. I never would have thought this is where I'd be in life at 37 years old, but it's also exactly where I want to be: Sober, feeling it all, and having a blast living life on MY OWN timeline.
I dedicate my performance in this play to my friend and Dogs Without Horses bandmate Matt Coffman, who lived with ADD. You are dearly missed always.
