One of the coaches for the Bocuse d’Or in 2012-2013 for Rich and Corey was award winning chef Grant Achatz. He and the rest of the coaches visited the legendary Greenbrier resort many times in the year leading up to the Bocuse d’Or. Grant was amazed the first time he saw the 28 ton blast door at the Resort. The Greenbrier had a nuclear bunker that was built for congress during the Cold War. The bunker was never actually used and Rich had the cafeteria of the bunker converted into his practice kitchen for the competition.
It was the best way for the chef who during his training continued his full time role as Executive Chef and Director of Food and Beverage at the resort. The movie that documents the training can be seen on Amazon Prime Called “The Contender”. #documentary#documentaryphotography greenbrier #grantachatz#richrosendale#bocusedor#vacuum#vacuumpot#bocuse#finedininglovers#finedining#nuclearbunker#bunker#coldwar#thecontender#amazonprime#primevideo - 6 days ago
